The cash Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed nearly flat at 49,442.56, down just 4.87 points (-0.01%). YM futures settled around 49,639 (with intraday cash-equivalent action showing limited movement).
The session was quiet overall, with the major indices giving back a tiny fraction of the prior week's strong gains. The Nasdaq snapped its impressive 13-day winning streak, while small-caps (Russell 2000) bucked the trend and hit a new closing high.
Bias: Very bullish in the near term. Analysts note the index has completed a correction from the April 2025 low. A decisive break above the prior high at 50,611 would confirm stronger upside momentum. As long as the major low at ~45,065 holds, dips should find buyers.
Shorter-term, YM is consolidating after last week's gains. Watch for a reaction to retail sales data—stronger-than-expected figures could fuel a push toward 50,000, while weakness might test the 49,400 area. Moving averages remain supportive on daily/weekly charts, with the structure favoring buyers on pullbacks near the weekly 20 SMA area (~48,500 in some analyses, though price has moved higher).
