Again we start with a narrow range. This means indecision. The market is waiting for news.
There is more selling than buying during the pre-open. Two way trading using trend lines.
Technical analysis (day-trader focused, YMU26)
Trend: Intermediate uptrend remains intact. The market recovered smartly from Thursday’s pullback and closed the week near recent highs. Price is still above key short- and intermediate-term moving averages.
Key levels (approximate):
Resistance / upside targets: Friday high / recent peak zone near 54,200; then 54,350–54,500 (prior record area); extension toward 54,700–55,000 on sustained strength.
Support: Overnight/early lows near 54,000–54,050; prior settlement/Friday close area ~54,000–54,150; deeper support at 53,800–53,900 (Thursday lows) and psychological 53,500.
Structure: Last week’s advance left the market somewhat extended short-term. Monday often sees digestion or mild profit-taking after strong weeks. Watch for a hold of the 54,000–54,050 zone as constructive; a break below could invite a retest of the mid-53,000s.
Day-trader approach: Prefer long setups on dips toward 54,000–54,050 with confirmation, or breakout continuation above 54,200 with volume. Volatility may stay elevated around oil headlines. Use tight risk management given the proximity to records—stops below recent swing lows or ATR-based. Avoid oversized positions early in the week ahead of Wednesday’s CPI.
