Day-Trading Scenarios for Feb 09, 2026

Hard to do an encore after a +1,000 point move.

So many traders were blindsided by the huge move to and above 50,000 that they are praying for a pullback.

We need at least a 241 point pullback before risk levels are reduced.

Nearest support as of 9:19 am is 50040, then 49951.

Resistance is 50335.

  • Upcoming catalysts: Focus shifts to the rescheduled January jobs report (nonfarm payrolls) and CPI inflation data later this week (around Feb 11–13 in some schedules). These will heavily influence Fed policy expectations — strong jobs/inflation could temper rate-cut hopes, while softer prints support equities.

  • Broader context: The Dow's outperformance vs. Nasdaq/S&P reflects rotation into value/blue-chips (financials, industrials) amid AI/tech spending concerns. Corporate earnings season continues, with any beats in Dow components likely supportive.

We start with a narrow range. This means the market, including the institutions, are confused as to the next move. This tells us to be patient, wait for the break, then get aboard. We are overbought.
