Day-Trading Scenarios for Feb 09, 2026

- 1 min read
Hard to do an encore after a +1,000 point move.
So many traders were blindsided by the huge move to and above 50,000 that they are praying for a pullback.
We need at least a 241 point pullback before risk levels are reduced.
Nearest support as of 9:19 am is 50040, then 49951.
Resistance is 50335.
Upcoming catalysts: Focus shifts to the rescheduled January jobs report (nonfarm payrolls) and CPI inflation data later this week (around Feb 11–13 in some schedules). These will heavily influence Fed policy expectations — strong jobs/inflation could temper rate-cut hopes, while softer prints support equities.
Broader context: The Dow's outperformance vs. Nasdaq/S&P reflects rotation into value/blue-chips (financials, industrials) amid AI/tech spending concerns. Corporate earnings season continues, with any beats in Dow components likely supportive.
