Day-Trading Scenarios for Jul 01, 2026

Range is decreasing and today is a narrow range day, so we look for a break out.

Sentiment is mixed-to-cautious heading into the new month and a shortened week (Independence Day holiday on Friday). Key drivers:

  • Geopolitics (US-Iran): Indirect/diplomatic activity continues in Doha via mediators (Qatar), with US envoys present but no confirmed direct high-level US-Iran meeting. Iran emphasizes conditions and its interests in the Strait of Hormuz. The fragile stand-down holds for now, supporting lower oil prices and reduced tail risk, but ongoing uncertainty adds a layer of caution.

  • Economy/Data: Today’s focus includes ADP Employment, ISM Manufacturing PMI, and other releases. Markets are pricing resilient but not overheating data amid sticky inflation backdrop. Quarter-end flows and positioning from last week’s rebound (Dow records) may lead to profit-taking or consolidation.

We should be prepared to take a break out trade.

Sell short stops below 52460.

Short on Weakness (Preferred Today): Sell rallies toward 52,600-52,700 if rejected (weak volume or soft data). Target 52,300-52,400 (200-400 points). Stop above recent highs. Rationale: Premarket softness, potential consolidation/profit-taking, and data-driven moves.

We start with a narrow range. This means the market, including the institutions, are confused as to the next move. This tells us to be patient, wait for the break, then get aboard. We are overbought.
