Day-Trading Scenarios for Jul 27, 2026

We start with a gap-up strong rally.

What hurts traders on a day like this is chasing the market. If you can avoid chasing, profits are a breeze.

This Morning's Tone (Monday, July 27)

A much bigger, cleaner risk-on move is underway. Dow futures are up about 1% (some reports show +0.67% to +1.2% depending on the check-in time), S&P futures are up roughly 0.8–0.9%, and Nasdaq-100 futures have jumped 1.3–1.4%, driven by one dominant headline: market sentiment got a lift over the weekend as the US and Iran paused fighting, raising hopes that peace negotiations could restart after two weeks of attacks.

Oil prices tumbled over 7%, with Brent trading below $90/barrel — specifically down about 6.2% to around $90.79, and WTI down 5.7% to $84.20. Polymarket traders are pricing an 88% chance of an "up" open, a 38-point jump in positive sentiment overnight. One notable divergence: energy stocks are lagging the broader rally — Chevron and ExxonMobil were both down about 2.5% premarket, and European majors TotalEnergies, BP, and Shell fell 3–4.5%, as the same de-escalation that's lifting the broader market is a headwind for oil producers.

This is being called the busiest week of the quarter: more Big Tech earnings (Apple, Microsoft, Meta, plus Visa, Exxon, Starbucks, Ford, and PayPal) and a Federal Reserve rate decision on Wednesday. Consensus expects the Fed to hold rates steady Wednesday before a possible September hike, though CME FedWatch data show a 35% probability the Fed surprises with a hike as soon as this meeting. Also worth flagging for context: S&P 500 companies are on pace for 38% year-over-year earnings growth this quarter per FactSet — far above original expectations — which is part of why some strategists remain constructively bullish despite the recent volatility.

Fed meeting Wednesday — with the oil-driven inflation scare now cooling, this reduces (but doesn't eliminate) the tail risk of a surprise hike

Dont chase. The market will give you good entries if you are patient. You do not have to trade. If the market does not give you a great entry stand aside.

We are looking, after a couple of small trades this morning, to buy a good sized pullback as we will announce.

We start with a narrow range. This means the market, including the institutions, are confused as to the next move. This tells us to be patient, wait for the break, then get aboard. We are overbought.
