Day-Trading Scenarios for Jul 30, 2026

As usual, the market overreacted and is trying to recover.

Support is good at 51690. If that is breached today we are looking at a Dow 51200.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 1,153.18 points lower, or 2.19%, at 51,594.14 — its worst decline since April 2025. The S&P 500 slid 1.52% to 7,316.15, and the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.74% to 24,442.94, ending the session more than 10% off its all-time high (correction territory).

The trigger: the Fed voted to hold rates steady, with three FOMC members dissenting in favor of a hike — an unusually hawkish-leaning split. Long-dated Treasury yields jumped on the news. The 10-year yield rose to above 4.67%, and the 30-year spiked to above 5.2%, hitting its highest level since around 2007. Oil added fuel to the fire: crude rose about 7.2% on the day amid renewed Middle East hostilities. Asia caught the contagion overnight-into-morning: South Korea's Kospi triggered a circuit breaker for a second straight day, plunging 8%, with SK Hynix down nearly 13% and Samsung down 8%.

Given the bounce in futures this morning, the first real test is whether the Dow can reclaim 51,800-52,000 and hold it — that would suggest yesterday was a Fed-driven flush rather than a trend change. Failure to reclaim it, or a fade back below 51,594 (yesterday's close) intraday, would say the breakdown has more room to run.

Day-Trading Scenarios for Aug 6, 2026

We start with a narrow range. This means the market, including the institutions, are confused as to the next move. This tells us to be patient, wait for the break, then get aboard. We are overbought.
