Day-Trading Scenarios for Jun 02, 2026

Profit-taking day so far.

Good institutional buy orders at 50739, sell orders at 51341.

The cash Dow Jones Industrial Average closed modestly higher at around 51,079, up roughly +46 points (+0.09%). It traded in a relatively tight range after recovering from early weakness.

  • Futures action (YMM26): The June contract settled near 51,134 (exact settlement varies slightly by source). It traded a range of approximately 50,999 – 51,384, opening around 51,073–51,128. It finished the day little changed to slightly positive, with a modest net gain after early pressure.

  • Data: Light-to-moderate calendar. Focus on JOLTS Job Openings (10:00 AM ET, expected ~6.9M) — this feeds into the jobs narrative ahead of ADP (Wed) and Nonfarm Payrolls (Fri). A Fed speaker (Cleveland Fed's Beth Hammack) is also scheduled.

  • Broader drivers:

    • Geopolitical risk (US-Iran/Middle East) remains a wildcard — oil price moves could influence risk sentiment.

    • AI/tech momentum continues as a primary bullish driver (Nvidia, broader semiconductor/enterprise AI spending).

    • Strong corporate earnings backdrop and resilient consumer spending support the bull case, though valuations are elevated and sticky inflation/geopolitics pose risks.

Trading Notes for YM:

  • Volatility could pick up around the 10 AM data. Watch oil and VIX for risk cues.
