Day-Trading Scenarios for Jun 11, 2026

If the Dow closes below 50200 today, it will turn the daily chart into a downtrend.

We like shorting 200 point rallies today.

Previous Day Recap (Wednesday, June 10, 2026) for Dow Futures (YM Jun '26):

The cash Dow Jones Industrial Average closed sharply lower at 49,918.78, down 953 points (-1.87%). This marked one of the worst days of the year, driven by a combination of the May CPI report and escalating geopolitical tensions.

  • Session action: Markets opened softer and sold off aggressively. Tech-heavy sectors (Nasdaq down ~2%) underperformed amid ongoing AI/Chip stock pressure, while broader risk-off sentiment hit equities. Oil prices rose on Middle East developments (U.S.-Iran related), adding inflationary concerns and pressuring sentiment. The Dow showed some relative resilience earlier but couldn't hold gains.

  • CPI reaction: May CPI came in +0.5% MoM / +4.2% YoY (headline in line with expectations, highest annual rate since 2023, driven largely by energy/oil from geopolitics). Core CPI was +0.2% MoM / +2.9% YoY (somewhat softer than feared on core). Markets initially pared losses post-release but reversed as geopolitics dominated.

  • Futures (YM) traded volatile, with the June contract reflecting the cash weakness and settling in a pressured range.

  • Major catalyst: May PPI (Producer Price Index) at 8:30 AM ET, along with Initial Jobless Claims. PPI expected higher (headline ~0.7–1.4% MoM range in forecasts), potentially reinforcing inflation narrative from CPI. Hotter-than-expected could pressure risk assets further; softer could aid recovery.

  • Geopolitics: Ongoing U.S./Iran/Israel/Middle East tensions remain a dominant driver, supporting oil but weighing on equities and boosting safe-havens. Any de-escalation headlines could spark relief rallies.

  • Broader context: Fed rate path repricing (higher-for-longer bias amid sticky inflation), sector rotation (defensives/value vs. tech), and lingering AI/valuation concerns. No major earnings dominating today.
