Day-Trading Scenarios for May 15, 2026

Market taking a breather.

Profit taking will give us a test of bigger support at 49631. We did take a banker's flush long earlier at 49665. Next resistance is at 49920 for a short.

The cash Dow Jones Industrial Average rose ~370 points (+0.7%) to close at approximately 50,063, reclaiming the 50,000 level for the first time since the escalation of the US-Iran conflict earlier in the year. It traded in a range with a high near 50,200.

YM 06-26 futures settled around the 50,154 area after trading a session high near 50,292 and low in the 49,850s. The move was supported by strong earnings (notably Cisco) and a positive risk tone amid the Trump-Xi summit discussions.

Expect choppy trade around the 50k level with potential downside pressure early on profit-taking and macro headlines. A hold above 49,600–49,700 keeps the bullish structure alive for another leg higher toward new highs. Watch oil, yields, and any Fed-related commentary closely.

We start with a narrow range. This means the market, including the institutions, are confused as to the next move. This tells us to be patient, wait for the break, then get aboard. We are overbought.
