Previous Day Recap (Wednesday, May 27, 2026) for Dow Futures / YM 06-26:
The cash Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a new all-time high of 50,644.28, up +182.60 points (+0.36%). It also hit an intraday record high. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed at records too, but with much smaller gains (+0.02% and +0.07% respectively).
Futures (YM) settled around the 50,728 area (exact settlement varies slightly by source, but cash close aligns closely). The session was relatively quiet and choppy overall, with the Dow outperforming due to its heavier weighting in energy and industrials that benefited from the oil drop.
Key driver: A sharp drop in oil prices (U.S. crude -5.55% to ~$88.68) on optimism around U.S.-Iran negotiations, potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and a possible ceasefire extension. This reduced inflation fears and supported risk assets, especially the Dow.
The market showed narrow leadership with mixed breadth, but overall bullish sentiment persisted amid geopolitical de-escalation hopes and ongoing AI/tech optimism.
Technical Outlook for Today (Thursday, May 28)
Bullish bias remains intact in the near term:
YM is trading near all-time highs (~50,600–50,700 zone in early action).
Many technical indicators (moving averages, etc.) show Strong Buy signals as of late May 27.
Key levels to watch:
Resistance: 50,900–51,000 (recent highs), then psychological 51,000+.
Support: 50,400–50,500 (recent consolidation), then 50,000 major level.
Momentum is positive but the market is extended. Watch for potential profit-taking or consolidation after repeated record highs. Negative RSI divergence has been noted in some analyses, hinting at possible short-term pullbacks.
Overall structure: Uptrend since earlier 2026 lows remains dominant. A break and hold above 51,000 would be strongly bullish.
Major data releases (key for Fed policy and growth views):
8:30 AM ET: Q1 2026 GDP (second revision), Personal Income/Spending, PCE Price Index (Fed's preferred inflation gauge) for April, and Initial Jobless Claims.
PCE data will be closely watched for signs of cooling inflation, especially with lower oil prices helping.
