Day-Trading Scenarios for Apr 15, 2026

Updated: Apr 16

Start with small uptrend on low volume.

The cash Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at approximately 48,536, up about 318 points (+0.66–0.7%).

YM futures settled near 48,755 after trading in a range roughly from 48,344 to 48,808. The session showed solid bullish momentum, with the index recovering from any early weakness and closing near the highs of the day. This marked a continuation of the relief rally, as markets extended gains for a second straight session amid easing geopolitical concerns.

Key drivers included:

Optimism around potential U.S.-Iran peace talks or de-escalation signals (President Trump noted interest from the other side in resuming negotiations).

Cooler-than-expected PPI (wholesale inflation) data for March, which helped reduce rate-hike fears.

I am watching for some easy M and W setups this morning.

Key levels to watch:

Resistance: Immediate area near 48,800–48,900 (yesterday's highs and round number). Further upside targets include 49,000–49,500 (psychological and recent range highs). A sustained break above 48,800–49,000 could target 49,500+ if momentum builds.

Support: Near 48,500–48,600 (yesterday's close/settlement zone and recent pivot). Deeper support at 48,300–48,400, then 48,000 (major psychological level). A break below 48,300 could open 47,800–48,000.

Pivot/Range: Today's classic pivot points cluster around 48,750, with R1 ~48,800 and S1 ~48,650–48,700.

Bias and setup: Short-term technicals lean neutral-to-bullish following the recent surge and higher lows. The index has reclaimed ground lost during earlier April volatility, but remains sensitive to any reversal in risk sentiment. Watch for opening range breakout/continuation from the NYSE open. Volume and order flow around key levels (especially 48,755 settlement) will be important. Indicators like moving averages suggest the path of least resistance is higher as long as 48,500 holds, but overbought conditions after the rally could invite pullbacks.

Traders should monitor intraday VWAP and any Bankers Flush around the open.

Day-Trading Scenarios for Aug 6, 2026

We start with a narrow range. This means the market, including the institutions, are confused as to the next move. This tells us to be patient, wait for the break, then get aboard. We are overbought.
