YM Morning Report — Friday, November 6, 2026

1. Prior Session Recap

Overnight into Thursday, YM held a 53,518 low at 7:07 pm. London then drove it to the session high of 53,913 at 6:25 am. The cash open came in near 53,785 and ticked to 53,859 at 9:31. From there the market broke hard. The opening 30 minutes fell to 53,044 by 10:00, a violent 815-point range. Selling ran to 52,094 at 10:55. A late-morning bounce to 52,465 failed, and the afternoon was a steady grind lower: 51,868 after noon, 51,672 in the 2 o’clock hour and 51,584 into the 4:00 close. YM settled at 51,615. Selling continued after the settle, with the session low of 51,300 printing at 5:00 pm.

Cash indexes erased Wednesday’s post-midterm rally:

Dow: 51,523.06, −1,833.06 (−3.4%)

S&P 500: 7,353.73, −334.89 (−4.4%)

Nasdaq: 24,315.00, −1,421.52 (−5.5%), now in correction

Overnight, YM opened at 51,365, made the overnight high of 51,569 at 7:43 pm, and drifted to the overnight low of 50,891 at 2:32 am. London rallied it to 51,352 at 4:40 am, then sold it back down. The 8:30 jobs report produced a sharp 205-point spike from 51,217 to 51,012 that was partly retraced. It is now at 51,129.

2. Fundamental Picture

Thursday was a broad AI-trade liquidation. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell more than 12%, led by Nvidia, Micron and AMD. Analysts described the move as hedge funds locking in 2026 gains, with retail investors posting their heaviest net selling since 2020. The midterm sweep added fear of regulatory hurdles for AI data-center buildouts. Oil firmed on doubts about a U.S.–Iran deal, with Brent near $98. The VIX jumped more than 65%, to as high as 27.45, its biggest one-day gain in over two years.

This morning the leadership has flipped. Nasdaq futures are rebounding more than 1% as chips bounce (Micron and AMD up about 8% premarket). Dow futures are lagging, down roughly 1%, and the S&P is modestly higher. October payrolls came in at +165K versus about 65K expected. September was revised up to +60K, unemployment fell to 4.1%, and hourly earnings rose 0.4%. That is a strong labor market, but hot wages put a December Fed rate hike back on the table. The 10-year has whipsawed in the 4.84–4.89% area since the release. The VIX is easing but still elevated near 26.8. University of Michigan preliminary sentiment and inflation expectations are due at 10:00 am, at the very end of the opening window. Likely tone: volatile and two-way. Tech is trying to stabilize while the Dow stays heavy. Rallies into overhead resistance should meet supply, but snap-back risk is high after a 3.4% down day.

3. Technical Picture

Daily Pivots (H 53,913 / L 51,300 / Settle 51,615; range 2,613)

Level Price

R3 57,502

R2 54,889

R1 53,252

Pivot 52,276

S1 50,639

S2 49,663

S3 47,050

The pivots are very wide because of yesterday’s 2,613-point range. S1 at 50,639 is the only level inside realistic reach today.

Trend

60-minute: 5 SMA 51,093 < 20 SMA 51,297 → down.

15-minute: 5 SMA 51,115 < 20 SMA 51,154 → down.

Bias: Price is more than 1,100 points below the pivot and both timeframes are aligned down, so the plan is short on rallies. Conviction is moderate: Nasdaq strength and an easing VIX raise the risk of a sharp relief bounce.

Framework: The trend is down, so the opening stop-run should come up. First zone: 51,150–51,225, the 15-min 20 SMA, post-data shelf and pre-data high. London’s swing ran down from 51,352, so their profit-taking can lift price toward that start. That makes 51,297–51,352 (60-min 20 SMA and London start) the deeper stop-run zone. Invalidation: sustained trade above 51,352 cancels the short bias. Above 51,569 (the overnight high), the downtrend is broken.

4. Trade Plan

With-Trend Short A With-Trend Short B (deeper) Counter-Trend Long

Zone 51,175–51,225 51,300–51,350 50,880–50,900 (overnight low)

Trigger 1-min stoch turns down from above 80 1-min stoch turns down from above 80 1-min stoch turns up from below 20

Entry 51,190 51,325 50,895

Stop 51,240 51,375 50,845

Target 1 51,090 51,175 50,965

Target 2 50,890 (measured move) 51,015 (measured move) 51,010

Management: Once 50 points in profit, move the stop to breakeven, then trail it. With an above-normal SMF, take partial profits at Target 1. Be reduced into the 10:00 sentiment release. The counter-trend long is valid only if the overnight low holds. A clean break below 50,891 cancels it, and the next downside reference is S1 at 50,639.

5. Swing Magnitude Factor Forecast (9:30–10:00 am range)

SMF forecast: 338 points

Overnight high: 51,569 (7:43 pm)

Overnight low: 50,891 (2:32 am)

Overnight range: 678 points

London swing: down 340 points, from 51,352 (4:40 am) to 51,012 (8:31 am)

Measured moves

Primary (stop-run high, then the downtrend resumes): 51,225 − 338 = 50,887, a retest of the overnight low. From a deeper run to 51,352, the target is 51,014.

Alternate (flush below the overnight low, then reversal): 50,891 + 338 = 51,229, back to the pre-data high.
