Day-Trading Scenarios for Oct 27, 2026
YM Morning Report — Tuesday, October 27, 2026
Prior Session Recap (Monday, Oct 26)
YM made its session low of 52378 on Sunday evening and opened Monday’s day session at 52643. A brief push to 52679 in the first minute gave way to a dip to 52512 at 9:46, a quiet 167-point opening range. Buyers then drove YM to the session high of 52818 at 10:21 ET. That high faded through midday to a day-session low of 52447 at 1:48 pm. The afternoon held between 52510 and 52550, and YM settled at 52550.
The cash Dow rose about 0.3%, the S&P 500 about 0.7% and the Nasdaq about 0.8%. Chip stocks led after Anthropic’s IPO filing, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index up 2.8%.
Overnight, YM held a 52455 low early in the evening and climbed to 52681 by midnight. It dipped to the London low of 52519 at 4:47 ET, then rallied to 52785 at 6:48, exactly at today’s R1. It is now at 52687.
Fundamental Picture
AI enthusiasm is back. Anthropic’s IPO filing showed revenue of $1.16 billion for the six months to June, up more than 1,300% from a year earlier, though the company is still losing money. That sparked Monday’s chip rally. Meta raised its equity fundraising for AI expansion to a record $97.5 billion. Dow components are reporting this morning. Coca-Cola raised its annual profit forecast and is modestly higher, and Boeing reports before the bell, with analysts expecting a small loss and focusing on free cash flow. Visa reports after the close. Elsewhere, Royal Caribbean is up 4.6% on a beat and Whirlpool is down 8% after a loss. Dow futures were up about 0.3% early.
The Fed starts its two-day meeting today, with the decision Wednesday. A hold is widely expected after last month’s hike, but markets price at least two more hikes by mid-2027, and inflation has run above target for more than five years. Oil remains the main risk. Brent is near $116, close to its highest level since April, and WTI is near $102. Officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan met Iranian leaders in Tehran on Monday, but no agreement has been reached. Israel holds elections today. With Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon reporting later in the week and the midterms a week away, expect the market to hold firm but avoid big commitments ahead of the Fed.

15-minute 20 SMA ≈52642
60-minute 20 SMA ≈52608
London low 52519
60-minute chart: The 5 SMA (≈52662) is above the 20 SMA (≈52608). Trend is up.
15-minute chart: The 5 SMA (≈52698) is above the 20 SMA (≈52642). Trend is up.
Bias: Both timeframes are aligned up and price is about 100 points above the pivot, so the primary bias is long on pullbacks. London traders are long from 52519 and took the market straight to R1. As they take profits near the NY open, and as the opening stop-run plays out, a dip into 52590–52610 is likely before the uptrend resumes. That zone holds the pivot and the 60-minute 20 SMA. Overhead, the 52785–52818 zone (R1, the overnight high and Monday’s high) is a triple ceiling. A clean break above it opens the way to R2. If YM loses the pivot at 52582 and Monday’s 52550 settle, the long bias is off.
Trade Plan
Stops stay within 50 points. Management: once a trade is 50 points in profit, move the stop to breakeven, then trail it.
With-trend #1: pivot pullback long. Buy a dip into 52595–52610 when the 1-minute stochastic turns up from below 20.
Entry: 52600
Stop: 52550 (below Monday’s settle)
Target 1: 52785 (R1 / overnight high)
Target 2: 52870 (one full Swing Magnitude Factor off the low)
With-trend #2: breakout retest long. If YM closes a 15-minute bar above Monday’s 52818 high, buy the first pullback to 52815–52825.
Entry: 52820
Stop: 52770
Target 1: 52940
Target 2: 53022 (R2)
Counter-trend: triple-ceiling fade short. On the first test of 52785–52818, if the 1-minute stochastic is above 80 and turning down, short for the typical ~70-point pullback. Use this instead of trade #2 when the ceiling holds, not alongside it.
Entry: 52805
Stop: 52855
Target 1: 52735
Target 2: 52665
Swing Magnitude Factor Forecast (9:30–10:00 ET range)
Forecast: 270 points
The normal opening range over the last 10 sessions is 276 points. Pre-open activity this morning is a little quieter than normal, at 90%. London’s swing was 266 points up, from 52519 to 52785.
Measured-move targets:
If the opening stop-run bottoms near 52600, one full 270-point swing up projects to 52870, through the triple ceiling.
If the open pushes up first and fails at the ceiling near 52810, a full swing down projects to 52540, just below the pivot and Monday’s settle.
